Want to quench that thirst and not break the macro bank? SODA WATER IS YOUR BEST FRIEND. It’s ok to have a little citrus, but remember, we are counting those alcohol macros so every calorie in your drink is counting here. Soda water will not only help keep you hydrated, but it also makes it so that you need less alcohol and juice, aka, it’ll keep the calories low. This greyhound is a perfect option for you!
A quick reminder, that just because that alcohol label says it's only 4 carbs doesn't mean that's the case. Alcohol is actually the 4th macronutrient, weighing in a 7 calories per gram. (Protein and Carbs are 4 calories per gram, fat is 9 calories per gram.) So if we know we are consuming a drink with 150 calories in it, we need to do a little math to figure out it's impact to our macro totals for the day. I typically have my clients put their alcohol towards carbs, but you count alcohol as carbs, fat, or as a combination of the two. You take the total calories, divide that number by 4 (counting as carbs) or 9 (counting as fat) and that number is what you enter in your macros. For example, that 150 calorie drink we have, it ends up being 37.5 carbs. Makes you think twice, huh?!
